Columbia Business School Healthcare Conference
This was my first Columbia Business School Healthcare Conference since becoming Director of the Healthcare and Pharmaceutical Management program last September. It was held on February 24th at the InterContinental BarclayHotel in midtown. The theme focused on Delivering Value along the Continuum of Care. We had 500 registrants, 14 sponsors and a day full important talks and panels. There's always room to improve (I have a list, of course), but feedback has been incredibly positive with 85% rating the conference Very Good or Excellent.
I was privileged to lead a fireside chat on the Future of Healthcare Reform with two giants in the field: Nancy-Ann DeParle, former Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy to President Obama and ACA Architect and Dr. Scott Gottlieb, former FDA Deputy Commissioner and FDA’s Director of Medical Policy Development during President George W. Bush’s administration. What came through was that when two highly intelligent, rational people engage in serious discourse, they can find more common ground than you'd expect. As one attendee wrote when providing feedback: "Both panelists had experience, facts, and most important POVs and opinions...Well done."
Update: Dr. Scott Gottlieb was selected to lead the FDA by President Trump on March 10th!
